Summary
The trade agreement between the EU and the four Mercosur countries Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, which is analyzed in this brochure, has been negotiated for more than twenty years. It is literally and figuratively an old-school treaty. If it goes ahead, it would seriously undermine the EU's climate ambitions. This publication shows why the EU-Mercosur treaty poses a threat to democracy, circular agriculture and food sovereignty, workers, nature and the climate, Indigenous peoples in South America and the economic development of the Mercosur countries Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
